In the market for a laptop, but don't want to break the bank? Google's ChromeOS is a lightweight alternative to Windows designed for cloud computing, with a power-efficient, almost virus-proof interface. You can get Chromebooks for various prices, but you'd be hard-pressed to spend more than a thousand bucks. And with Amazon's Prime Big Deal Days starting at midnight on the morning of October 7, prices are dropping even lower. Here are seven of the best Chromebook deals we've found so far (with more to come).

Lenovo Chromebook Deal

Lenovo makes reliably high-quality products, even at a budget price, and its Chromebooks are no different. At just under $200, this machine isn't likely to dazzle you with speedy performance, but it's more than capable enough for schoolwork, web browsing, and light media streaming. We reviewed the base model IdeaPad 3 Chromebook, praising its solid port selection, long battery life, cool operation, and impressive battery life–up to 13.5 hours on a single charge.

Acer Chromebook Deals

For something a little more capable, the Vero 514 from Acer got an "Excellent" rating in our review. It brought premium quality to the Chromebook market with surprisingly effective internals, including 8GB of RAM and an Intel processor. It's built according to MIL-STD 810H standards so that it can take a licking. Although it's not the most stylish package we've ever seen, it has some unusual perks like a backlit keyboard, and at 23% off, it more than earns its keep.

Here's a more budget-minded option that won't blow you away with performance but handles the basics with aplomb. This laptop deal includes numerous perks like a free carrying case, a docking station with 128GB of storage, a MicroSD adapter, and a 64GB MicroSD card, making it even more appealing, especially at 20% off. The FHD display is reasonably crisp and clear, and the laptop has plenty of ports. You can read our full review from 2023 here.

Samsung Chromebook Deal

Samsung makes a robust assortment of Chromebooks, and this one is a decent value. We gave a decent rating to the Chromebook 4+ in our review, noting that it featured a comfortable keyboard, a decent assortment of ports, and was easy to tote around, thanks to its light weight. We docked a few points for the low screen brightness, but for just a little more than $250, it's one of the better big-screen full-HD options in the price range. It also has a free Google One subscription with 200GB of cloud storage for 12 months.

Asus Chromebook Deal

Here we have a convertible portable that will surprise people that it's a Chromebook. The 360-degree hinge on the Chromebook Plus Flip CX5 lets you use it in many different ways, including as a tablet with its bright, responsive touch screen; a traditional laptop with a capable keyboard; and a tent display. With a speedy Intel i3 processor, ChromeOS can shine with effortless multitasking and instantaneous startup. While it's spendy for a Chromebook, it still delivers extended battery life and virus-free operation. See how it compares on our list of the best Chromebooks.

Another surprisingly luxurious Chromebook Plus, the ExpertBook CX54, showcases several high-end components that promote top-tier ChromeOS performance. Housed in a slimline aluminum shell with an Ergolift hinge and tapered edges, it avoids the clunky styling of other Chromebooks. The backlit keyboard appears spacious and comfortable, with a large touchpad. The laptop's port loadout is decent, and the Wi-Fi 6E modem gives you speedy connectivity. A $100 price cut drops this one to an attractive price point.

HP Chromebook Deals

Another Chromebook Plus convertible, the HP x360 is an adaptable little machine with decent performance and build quality. We gave this one a full review, where contributing editor Eric Grevstad noted its "attractive everyday productivity, novel AI enhancements, and colorful touch screen." Weighing in at 3.31 pounds, it's easy to take anywhere, and there's a solid selection of ports, but unfortunately, no HDMI output. That minor quibble aside, this is a good value, and a little 5% extra discount makes it worth checking out.
