Netflix has a huge amount of material to watch, and with over 7,000 movies on the service, it can be hard to decide on just one. Some are obviously more worthwhile than others, which is why I've put on my streaming cap to recommend choices for the week, using metrics like popularity, ratings on IMDb and Rotten Tomatoes, and individual preference. A new documentary has people talking, so if you want to become a manosphere expert, here are more flicks for you.
Louis Theroux: Inside The Manosphere
Netflix offers a bevy of charts for their top-rated movies, and this week's has an interesting dichotomy. Louis Theroux: Inside The Manosphere is at #2 on the global chart, but barely hanging on to the top 10 in the United States. That might mean that us Americans are already sick of Sneako, Myron Gaines, and the rest of the loudmouthed misogynist podcast crew that Theroux struggles to comprehend in this amusing and upsetting documentary. One can hope so!

The Social Dilemma
The manosphere as we know it wouldn't exist without the attention economy that social media created, so 2020 documentary The Social Dilemma is a must-watch for context. The dark patterns that motivate social posting, commenting, and engagement reward outrage, offense, and dehumanization. We're racing to the bottom with increasingly depraved content, and the rise of these influencers proves it.

I Am Not An Easy Man
French satire I Am Not An Easy Man depicts the manosphere's worst nightmare: A world where women have all the power. Vincent Elbaz stars as Damien, a feckless male chauvinist who gets bonked on the head and wakes up in a gender-flipped Paris, he has to contend with the world's expectations for men to shave their bodies, wear short shorts to work, and silently endure sexual harassment.

Feminists: What Were They Thinking?
To wash the taste of the manosphere out of your mouth, dive into documentary Feminists: What Were They Thinking, which explores the Women's Liberation movement of the 1970s and the fight to end workplace discrimination, ensure abortion access, and build intersectional communities. With interviews and archival footage, it shows what the fight for gender equality once looked like, and how far we still have to go.
