HBO Max continues its countdown to merge with Paramount+ later this year, but it still remains a good subscription for lots of hit movies and original programming. The last week of March heads into April with one of the most important sci-fi franchises of all time, plus a French drama that looks cool and the latest John Wick flick. We've got a rundown of everything new streaming below.

This Week on HBO Max: PCMag's Picks

From The World Of John Wick: Ballerina (March 27)

How long do you think they can keep the John Wick-iverse going before it gets too silly? The first spinoff, Ballerina, doesn't break any new ground, but it still provides all of the ridiculous gunplay, bizarre assassin lore, and scenery-chewing performances we love. Ana de Armas stars as a woman raised by the Ruska Roma guild to become a contract killer, only to go rogue when she meets a member of the cult that murdered her parents.

  • Director: Len Wiseman
  • Cast: Ana de Armas, Keanu Reeves, Ian McShane
  • Genre: Action
  • Rating: R
  • IMDb Rating: 6.8/10

Privileges: Season 1 (March 27)

French-language HBO original Privileges takes place in the Citadel hotel, a refuge for the rich and famous. Ex-convict Adèle gets a job as a baggage handler there and quickly realizes that the job requires a lot more than moving luggage from the lobby to the room, as every favor hides a hidden cost and power dynamics shift rapidly. Early buzz is very promising, and fans of shows like The White Lotus should find a lot to love here.

  • Stars: Zar Amir Ebrahimi, Sandor Funtek, Melvil Poupaud
  • Genre: Drama
  • Rating: TV-MA

Aliens Franchise (April 1)

HBO Max's movie library is one of the strongest of any streaming service, and April sees a huge get: the first four Aliens movies, from 1979's landmark Alien forward, plus the Directors' Cut and Assembly Cut versions of many of them. 2024's Alien: Romulus also arrives on HBO Max next week. These are some of the most important science fiction movies ever made, so having them all in one place is a treat.

  • Stars: Sigourney Weaver, Winona Ryder, John Hurt
  • Genre: Science Fiction
  • Rating: TV-MA
