Smart shoppers know that Amazon Prime Day is the best time of the summer to snag a new laptop at a low, low price. But Prime Day doesn't arrive until July 8, you say. Smart shoppers also know that there are already nice discounts on Windows and Mac laptops available right now, including some Editors' Choice-winning machines. If you're looking for a solid budget laptop that doesn't break the bank, the Acer Aspire 5 is a good place to start. Apple MacBook Deals
There's no laptop experience quite like a MacBook, and we love the latest iteration of the MacBook Air. In our review, we gave this portable an Editors' Choice award for how it combined boosted performance from the last generation of Apple ultraportables combined with a lower sticker price. Throw in a $150 pre-Prime Day discount and you've got an incredible deal. Apple's M4 processor is extremely zippy, letting you run high-end creative apps with ease. It's also the first MacBook Air to support Apple's Neural Intelligence AI features. The screen is gorgeous, the speakers are solid, the keyboard feels good—this one's a winner no matter how you slice it.
Samsung Laptop Deals
This attractive and potent portable is a solid desktop replacement, with impressive performance from Windows 11's new Copilot AI features thanks to the Snapdragon X Plus processor. In our review, we were impressed by the Galaxy AI Book 4 Edge's luxurious-feeling all-metal chassis and bright, crisp display. Battery life is also a plus with this model, giving you nearly a full day of operation on a single charge. Throw in a wide selection of ports and you've got an all-purpose laptop that'll set you up without breaking the bank.

Lenovo Laptop Deals
We're big fans of Lenovo's multifaceted laptop line, as they deliver consistently reliable build quality and some of the snappiest keyboards in the business. This is a great price for a budget laptop strictly on the component level, as while the 10-core Intel i5 isn't a world-beater, running 40GB of RAM makes it into a great pick for music production or other memory-heavy applications. This model has a touchscreen as well, and comes with a bunch of accessories including an 8-in-1 USB docking station, headphones and a 500GB SD card, all for 10% off retail.
Microsoft Surface Deals
The first generation of laptops optimized to work with Windows 11's new Copilot AI features, these Microsoft Surface units couple the convenience of a tablet with the power and flexibility of a laptop. In our review, we said good things about its sturdy and stylish all-metal build, modern touchpad with haptic feedback, and lengthy battery life. The Qualcomm Snapdragon X Plus processor is able and speedy, and the display is nice. It's not quite as brute-force powerful as comparable Intel laptops, but the unique aspects of this one make up for it. Amazon has a 16% discount in advance of Prime Day.
Gaming Laptop Deals
Gaming laptops are also going to see discounts before Prime Day, and this MSI model is a solid example. While it doesn't pump the kind of power needed to hit our list of the best gaming laptops, it's a more than serviceable entry-level portable with a capable RTX 4060 graphics card serving up the pixels to its 15.6-inch FHD display with a 144Hz refresh rate. The keyboard and touchpad both feel good, and port selection is solid for your gaming mice and controllers. There's plenty of room inside to boost RAM as well, and 12% off is a solid price cut.
