Every month, Netflix adds lots of new content to its library of films and TV shows. But to make room for the fresh stuff, some of the shows and movies you'd always wanted to watch—and have had in your My List for months or years—suddenly disappear.

That's because Netflix doesn't own all the content it streams. The deals it has with networks, production companies, and movie studios mean much of that content comes and, unfortunately, goes with startling regularity. So each month, we keep you up to date with the newest list of what's leaving the service, for Netflix veterans as well as those who are just signing up now. We'll highlight our top choices for what you should view before it's too late; the full list is below.

Annihilation (Gone Sept. 29)

This brilliantly weird adaptation of the novel by Jeff VanderMeer didn't perform well at the box office, but time has been kind to it. Annihilation delivers a sense of otherworldly dread like few other movies. When a group of scientists venture into the "Shimmer," a quarantined zone home to mysterious mutations, they find that their own bodies might not belong to them anymore.

Are You Afraid of the Dark?: Season 1 (Gone Sept. 30)

Just in time for spooky season, the adventures of the Midnight Society are fleeing Netflix for greener pastures (we'd predict Paramount+, whose parent company originally produced the show). The 2019 revival of the classic 90s series was a lot of fun, so watch Are You Afraid Of The Dark? while you still can.

The Originals (Gone Sept. 6)

If you're not a tween girl, you might not be familiar with the CW network's sprawling universe of vampire dramas, but these shows are popcorn in the best way. Absurd plots, equally absurdly hot people, and a ton of scenery-chewing are on offer for the five seasons of The Originals, which follows a trio of the first "turned" in New Orleans as they scheme, love, and even fight Nazis.
