New sports streaming services from ESPN and Fox are both set to debut on Aug. 21, weeks before the NFL season kicks off on Sept. 4.
Disney on Wednesday confirmed that its service will be delivered through an updated version of the existing ESPN app. Two subscription plans are available. The unlimited plan, which costs $29.99/month or $299/year, provides access to all of ESPN's linear networks, such as ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, SECN, ACCN, ESPNEWS, ESPN Deportes, and ESPN on ABC, ESPN+, ESPN3, SECN+, and ACCNX.
Subscribers of this plan will also gain access to 30 for 30 films, ESPN Originals, replays, and studio shows like SportsCenter, Get Up, First Take, NFL Live, The Pat McAfee Show, Pardon the Interruption, College GameDay, NBA Today, Inside the NBA, and The Rich Eisen Show.
There's also a cheaper "select" plan for $19.99/month or $119.99/year, which offers everything available on ESPN+.
In May, ESPN said current ESPN+ subscribers would be shifted to the select plan automatically, and that the new sports streaming service would be included in several Disney bundles.
Fox One's arrival was confirmed the same month. It aims to bring all of the network's news, sports, and entertainment content under one roof.
At $19.99 per month or $199.99 annually, you can get live streaming and on-demand access to FOX News Channel, FOX Business, Fox Weather, Fox Sports, FS1, FS2, Fox Deportes, B1G, Fox Local Stations, and the Fox Network. At launch, you'll also be able to bundle Fox One with Fox Nation at $24.99 per month or $19.99 per month if billed annually.
Notably, the two new apps arrive after a federal court blocked ESPN, Fox, and Warner Bros. from launching a comprehensive sports service called Venu last year after Fubo sued. Disney then agreed to combine its Hulu + Live TV business with Fubo in a $220 million deal under which Fubo settles all litigation related to Venu and Disney took a 70% stake in Fubo.
