Apple is reportedly working on an iOS 27 feature that will allow you to split bills with friends.

The feature will be tied to Apple Cash and available in Apple Wallet and the Messages app, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reports. You can also approve payment via the Apple Watch.

The concept isn’t entirely new. Third-party apps like Splitwise, Tab, or Settle Up already let you organize expenses by calculating who owes what. With Venmo and PayPal, you also get the additional benefit of generating payment requests and completing them from within the app.

Apple’s rumored iOS 27 feature is expected to support the best of both. It could allow “users to photograph a receipt, assign items to different people and generate payment requests,” sources tell Gurman.

Apple Cash was introduced in 2017, and it allows you to transfer and receive funds via Messages or Apple Wallet. With Tap to Cash, you can also transfer money by holding two iPhones or Apple Watches together.

We expect more details during the WWDC 2026 keynote on June 8. The event kicks off at 10 a.m. PT, and Apple’s new AI features and OS design changes are expected to take center stage. This will also be the last Apple developer conference with Tim Cook at the helm; he is stepping down as CEO in September and will be replaced by the company’s current hardware chief, John Ternus.
