Buying Guide: SpeakEasy Voice Recorder (for iPhone)

Along with virtual flashlights, the other iPhone apps that developers can't seem to stop creating are voice recorders. That's not a huge surprise, given that the iPhone's built-in (mono) microphone (which isn't found on the iPod Touch) is ideal for capturing voice memos, interviews, lectures, and the like (though not your phone calls—Apple prevents such recordings). Zarboo Software's SpeakEasy Voice Recorder may be a little pricier at $1.99 (direct) than the similarly popular 99-cent Recorder app, but it's as easy to use and provides a more foolproof way to download your recordings to your computer for archiving or transcribing.
