Virgin Mobile USA on Monday announced a new, $40 unlimited mobile broadband plan for its prepaid monthly service.

The plan will be available starting August 24. The new offer replaces the company's previous plans: $20 per month for 300MB; $40 per month for 1GB; or $60 per month for 5GB.

For those who use the Internet less frequently, Virgin Mobile will offer a $10 option for 100MB, which will be good for 10 days from purchase.

Existing customers will use up the data remaining on their current plans, and will select between the 100MB and unlimited offer the next time they need Broadband2Go.

Available device options include the MiFi 2200 mobile hotspot for $149.99 and the Ovation MC760 USB device for $79.99.
