Motorola Droid 2

The long-awaited Droid 2 has arrived in the PCMag Labs, but don't let its minimal packaging fool you.

The front and back of the box provides the first glimpse of the phone, including one image with the keypad open and another with it slid closed. The bottom of the box provides a run-down of what to expect once opened: the phone; standard lithium ion battery; 8GB microSD memory card (pre-installed); wall/USB charger; product safety and warranty brochure; as well as a quick reference guide.

We all know that the Droid 2 is a beast featuring a 1-GHz processor, Android 2.2, a 5-megapixel camera with DVD-quality video capture, and 8GB of on-board memory and microSD storage. Possibly the most notable feature is the raised keys, which make for a better, more responsive typing experience than what is found on it predecessor, the Motorola Droid.

The Droid 2 is now available on Verizon's Web site and in stores for $199.99 with a two-year contract. All Verizon Wireless customers whose contracts are up this year are eligible. However, the mobile hotspot service costs an extra $20 per month.

Look out for our full review soon, but until then, check out our unboxing slideshow.
