Xbox is working to reconnect with its community of gamers, making changes such as reducing the price of Game Pass and canceling plans for Copilot AI on its consoles. The latest change is a new forum that asks for feedback from gamers.
Xbox Player Voice is an online forum where you can share your own experience with other gamers, and Microsoft may take on board feedback. You can vote on threads to help them gain traction and become more likely to be spotted by the Xbox team.
The tool launched on May 18, and it had over 3,200 posts within 24 hours. The top request asks for exclusive titles to return to Xbox, with over 1,100 comments and 8,300 upvotes.
Carlos Hernandez, the thread's author, says, “XBOX was built off of great game exclusives, you cannot sell any consoles without a reason to buy the console compared to your competition or even sending your tentpole games over to your competitor. BRING THEM BACK PLEASE !!!”
Other top comments include requests for expanded backward compatibility, online multiplayer without a monthly subscription, and a family plan option for Xbox Game Pass. Smaller threads include someone asking for achievements within DLC to be separated from the main game, more focus on Xbox avatars, and a change to show Xbox playtime in hours rather than days.
Another player used a post to say they want the upcoming Project Helix console to offer a disc drive. Charlie Wright says, “I would like to use this forum to show Microsoft that there is still demand for physical games and this should always remain an option at the very least.”
Microsoft says it will acknowledge posts, letting you know when your feedback has been "received and reviewed." It also plans to give responses within the forum threads so everyone who has voted can see feedback. "We want to be clear: this doesn’t mean every piece of feedback will turn into a feature or result in a change. Building across a large, global platform means weighing a lot of inputs," Microsoft says.
Interestingly, Microsoft refers to this as the XBOX Player Voice, even though it typically uses its gaming brand as "Xbox." This comes after Xbox CEO Asha Sharma recently ran a poll on the social media platform X, asking gamers which version of the name they prefer.
Voters opted for XBOX over Xbox, leading the brand to retitle its X account to the fully capitalized version. This is the first new marketing material since that poll closed, suggesting that Microsoft has updated its styling for future announcements.
