Following Disney and Netflix, Prime Video has launched a scrollable vertical video feed called “Clips” to help users find their next TV show or movie.
Prime Video already has a vertical feed for NBA highlights. The feature is now being expanded to show snippets from movies and series across the streamer’s vast catalog.
“Clips gives customers a whole new way to browse with short, personalized snippets tailored to their interests. Whether they have a few minutes to scroll or are looking for something to watch when they have more time, entertainment is just a tap away,” said Brian Griffin, director of Prime Video’s global app experiences.
Unlike on Netflix, Prime Video doesn’t have a dedicated Clips tab in the navigation bar. You need to scroll down the homepage to find the Clips carousel. Tapping on a clip opens a full-screen vertical feed that lets you continue browsing more videos.
With each clip, you’ll get options to watch the full title as well as ways to rent, buy, or subscribe to watch it. You can also add the title to your watchlist and share the short video with your friends and family via messaging or social media apps. To access the share link, though, the recipient will need Prime Video installed on their phone.
The Clips feed will also let you like videos and will be refreshed with each visit, “based on your viewing history,” Amazon says. A similar experience on Disney+ is called Verts, while Netflix uses the same name as Prime Video: Clips.
At launch, the feature is available to select US users on Fire tablets, Android, and iOS. Later this summer, it will expand to all users on eligible devices. As always, to access Prime Video, you need a Prime membership, which starts at $14.99 per month or $139 per year. To remove ads, you can pay an additional $4.99 per month and get the Prime Video Ultra plan.
