The Amazon Devices team is hosting an event in New York City on Sept. 30, where we'll likely hear more about next-gen Echo, Fire TV, and Kindle devices.

Amazon has typically used these events to bombard us with new iterations of its products, though its most recent reveal focused on Alexa+.

The invitation that went out this morning provides a few small clues. It's split into four sections: two glowing Alexa devices up top, a Kindle Colorsoft on the bottom right, and what looks to be a Fire TV on the left. A snippet of text on the Colorsoft says "with the stroke of a pen." Currently, the Kindle Scribe includes a stylus. Is Amazon adding a pen to the Colorsoft, or a color version of the Scribe? The blue lights, meanwhile, suggest new Echo smart speakers.

SVP Panos Panay will once again be running the show. He joined Amazon from Microsoft in late 2023, shortly after it unveiled a bunch of new Echo, Fire TV, Blink, and Eero devices. The company then skipped over a large-scale launch event in 2024 to focus on Alexa+ in February.

Since then, we haven't heard too much about Alexa+ as rival firms charge ahead (and flounder) with their own AI ambitions. During a July earnings call, CEO Andy Jassy said Amazon is "rolling out [Alexa+] early access to US customers, [and] millions of customers have access now. We're seeing very positive feedback, and we'll continue to iterate on the experience."

That feedback suggests that "people are excited about the devices that they can buy from us that [have] Alexa+ enabled in it," Jassy added.

Amazon doesn't usually livestream these events, but PCMag will be there to bring you all the news, starting at 10 a.m. ET on Sept. 30.
