Today, Spotify launched a new streaming music subscription option aimed squarely at couples who live at the same address.

Spotify Premium Duo costs $12.99 per month and packages together two premium accounts that are free of ads. It also includes Duo Mix, described as "a playlist for two, regularly updated with music you both enjoy." Spotify positioned Premium Duo squarely in the middle of the Individual plan ($9.99) and the Family plan ($14.99) and clearly hopes to entice a few couples stuck at home during the pandemic to sign up, or to realize they can save themselves $7 a month by switching their two Individual plans to Premium Duo.

Alex Norström, Spotify's Chief Freemium Business Officer, explained, "Today we are proud to launch Spotify Premium Duo, a first-of-its-kind audio offering for just two people in the same household ... Premium Duo includes our extensive music and podcast catalog and everything users love about Spotify Premium. With two individual Premium accounts, you can both listen independently, uninterrupted, and get all of your personalized playlists and features tailored just for you. We are thrilled to bring this unique Spotify Premium plan to even more markets around the world."

If you haven't tried a Premium account before, it's possible to get Premium Duo free for the first month. It's also easy to switch an existing subscription to Premium Duo by visiting your Account page on Spotify.com.
