Case modding isn't for the weary or faint of heart: It takes a lot of time and skill to create a functional work of art. Some modders incorporate their love for sports, comics, or TV shows into their cases, while others may just simply want to wow others. Although case modding may not seem like a traditional way to create art, we think it's right up there with painting and sculpting.

About two years ago we featured ten of the Craziest PC Case Mods of All Time, including a LEGO PC, a GerbilPC, and the CompuBeaver. We were amazed at how intricate and detailed these case mods were, even if they were a bit on the strange side. We're happy to say that we found plenty of qualified entries for an updated collection for 2009, and they definitely don't disappoint.

By the way, if you think you've got what it takes to build the ultimate PC case mod, then be sure to enter our sister site ExtremeTech's 2009 Case Mod Contest. One winner will be announced weekly. Entries must be received between now and 11:59 p.m. on May 10, 2009. Good luck!

Here are a couple of the products featured in today's "10 Incredible PC Case Mods" slideshow:

Barbecue Grill PC
It won't grill your burgers, but this PC is certainly smokin'! The Barbecue Grill PC contains a complete gaming system with a widescreen LCD monitor and glowing orange fans that look like hot coals.

The Great Pyramid
One modder took a Q6600 B3 OC 3.15-GHz CPU, 4GB of RAM, and a 500GB WD Caviar 300 SATA drive with some other hardware to build this wonder of the ancient world. The Great Pyramid case weighs 7.5 pounds, is made of laser-cut black-and-silver aluminum, and stands 25 inches high.
