If you have ever switched from an Android phone to an iPhone or vice versa, you know how painful the data transfer process can be. Apple and Google have never come together to solve this problem for their users—until now.
Reps from both sides tell 9to5Google that an easier OS-switching feature is now live on Pixel devices with the latest Android Canary build. Canary is a testing ground for developers to try out in-development Android features before they roll out as part of beta or stable releases. The same feature is expected to be part of an upcoming iOS 26 developer beta.
Canary builds are reserved for developers and enthusiasts, so most users should probably wait for a stable release.
Last year, Apple and Google came together to enable RCS messaging between their operating systems. (After some light bullying from Google, of course.) End-to-end encryption is up next.
Last month, meanwhile, Google teased a Quick Share update for Pixel 10 phones that lets users send videos, photos, and other files to a nearby iPhone via AirDrop. "We've heard from many people that they want a simpler way to share files between devices," Google said at the time. However, Apple was not directly involved in its development.
