Apple is reportedly developing a standalone app that will showcase games on iOS.

According to 9to5Mac, citing sources familiar with the matter, the app would merge the functionality of the App Store with Apple's Game Center. It would feature games already on the App Store and Apple Arcade, the company's $6.99-per-month game subscription service.

Game Center isn't going away; the app would just integrate existing Game Center profiles, according to 9to5Mac. The app's layout sounds similar to the App Store, with tabs for Apple's editorial content, game suggestions, playthrough details, and leaderboards.

Apple may also integrate FaceTime and iMessage in the app so gamers can talk to each other while playing, 9to5Mac says.

It's unclear if this would launch as an iOS 18 update or will be an iOS 19 feature. But the rumors come after the EU's Digital Markets Act allowed iOS developers to launch their own app stores, including Epic Games.
