Waze is now rolling out Conversational Reporting, a Gemini-powered feature that allows drivers to report road incidents using their voice.
Users can now tap the reporting button and describe the incident using plain language. Say something like, "there's a mattress on the road" or "looks like there are cars jammed up ahead," and Gemini will drop a report on the map for you. "No need to use a specific voice command or tap extra buttons," Google said while announcing the feature last year.
If your reporting requires more clarification, Gemini will ask follow-up questions. Again, you can respond with your voice.
The feature had been in beta for a year, but began appearing for some users in the UK and US last week. Some users, however, are encountering a buggy experience.
"It never seems to register what I say when I activate it in CarPlay," writes one Redditor. "Stops the media playback and not resuming it," writes another. Relentless pop-ups notifying users about the feature's arrival are another major complaint.
Google will hopefully fix these issues soon. In the meantime, you can check out how Google Maps and Waze stack up against each other.
