Think you've got smooth moves on the court? Try testing your b-ball skills in a virtual world with NBA Live 07. The latest version features an upgraded Freestyle Superstars mode, with different ability levels that imitate those of NBA players. Aside from regulation gameplay, it also features NBA All-Star Weekend, which allows you to have 3-point shootouts, rookie challenges and All-Star games. And if you've always thought you'd make a great general manager, you can scout for players, trade players, and lead your team to victory with the game's advanced dynasty mode.

Although the Freestyle Superstars mode is useful, it could be augmented by displaying player attributes (i.e. speed, agility, ball-handling, shooting, rebounding). I often found that controls were unresponsive. For instance, when in Direct Pass mode (passing to another player), there were times when the player would shoot instead.

Another gripe is that you can't look at each player's individual skills for weaknesses and strengths. Instead, you can only tell if they are a Freestyle Superstar and their overall rating. In addition, the game lacks realistic gameplay, which is something I'm used to with other EA sports games, such as Madden NFL 07. (Read: I made two 3-point shots with Shaquille O'Neal and missed five with Kobe Bryant, even though he was wide open!)
