Amid declining demand and safety controversies, most Americans are finding it increasingly difficult to obtain a (relatively) affordable Cybertruck.

Tesla appears to no longer be selling the most affordable version of the Cybertruck, the Cybertruck Long Range Rear-Wheel Drive (LR RWD), which launched in April of this year, according to an update to the official website first spotted by Engadget.

The Long Range Cybertruck started at $69,990 before tax credits, making it $10,000 cheaper than the second most affordable Cybertruck, the mid-range Cybertruck All-Wheel Drive (AWD). It was also over $40,000 cheaper than the flagship Cyberbeast trim, which starts at $114,990.

Tesla has yet to provide any official statement on the removal or why they chose to dump the trim just five months after launching it. But the entry-level Cybertruck didn’t exactly garner rave reviews from some Tesla drivers. When it launched in April, some commentators on social media pointed to the many features it lacked compared with its midrange counterpart, such as a missing HEPA filter, no air suspension, no rear light bar, and a standard bed with no tonneau cover included.

Meanwhile, the loss of the lowest-priced Cybertruck isn’t the only reason why acquiring one is set to become more expensive than ever. The end of the $7,500 EV tax credit is set to expire on Sept. 30, 2025.

But if you are still keen to pick one up, stocks of the Cybertruck Long Range Rear-Wheel Drive may still be available at some brick-and-mortar Tesla outlets.

The news comes as the Cybertruck was recently usurped from its position as America's best-selling electric pickup truck in the first quarter of 2025. According to vehicle registration data from S&P Global Mobility, the Ford F-150 Lightning moved to nab the top spot, while the Chevrolet Silverado EV nabbed third place.
