UPDATE 2/13: Apple has reaffirmed its plans to launch new Siri features by the end of the year. The brand previously shared 2026 as the launch window for the new features, and its latest comment to CNBC confirmed that remains the plan. However, that doesn't contradict Bloomberg's recent reporting that it'll be later in the year than Apple had planned internally.

Original Story 2/12:
Waiting on the next-gen Siri promised by Apple over a year ago? Prepare to wait even longer, perhaps even until iOS 27, according to a new report.

Sources speaking with Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman say Apple has hit “snags” in recent Siri testing, which may delay its release of new features.

Apple reportedly intended to introduce new Siri functionality with iOS 26.4 in March. However, the sources say the brand is considering spreading out features across iterations of its software. It may introduce select features in iOS 26.5, expected in May, with iOS 27 bringing further functionality alongside the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, and a foldable iPhone in September.

Apple first announced plans to overhaul Siri via Apple Intelligence at WWDC 2024, but the project has been delayed several times amid development issues. At WWDC 2025, Apple said to expect the new Siri in 2026. Internally, Apple was reportedly eyeing March 2026, but these delays may push it even further out.

Sources say the in-development Siri doesn’t always properly process queries, and there are reports that the tool sometimes takes too long to handle requests. Apple executives have previously said they’d rather delay than "disappoint customers."

The new features are thought to improve awareness across iPhone, enabling the assistant to interact with multiple apps at the same time. An example showed Siri finding a photo of a driver's license in Apple Photos to extract the ID number and add it to the relevant section of a form.

Apple introduced iOS 26.3 yesterday, and it’s now available to download on modern iPhones. It doesn’t bring a ton of new features, but it introduces a new tool to help users switch to Android, wallpaper widget improvements, and a feature for select phones to hide their location from their carrier.
