It's been about seven months since the arrival of the Nexus 6 and Nexus 9, so it's about time for some rumors about next-gen Nexus devices.

According to Android Police, Google will release two new Nexus phones in 2015 rather than a phone and a tablet, a first for the search giant.

A 5.2-inch handset will be produced by LG, with a 2,700 mAh battery, a Snapdragon 808 processor (the same used in the flagship LG G4 ). The Korean manufacturer previously built the Nexus 4 and Nexus 5.

Huawei, meanwhile, will handle a 5.7-inch phablet with a 3,500mAh battery, and a Snapdragon 810 processor, Android Police said.

As the blog noted, these specs are tentative and subject to change ahead of the smartphones' expected October launch. Google did not immediately respond to PCMag's request for comment.

In March, Google discontinued the Nexus 5, turning its focus instead to the next-gen, 6-inch Nexus 6 (pictured). A month later, the Nexus 7 tablet officially disappeared from Google Play to make way for its successor, the 8.9-inch Nexus 9 .

Google's annual two-day I/O developer conference kicks off Thursday in San Francisco, where the company will likely reveal details about the next version of Android, which any new Nexus devices will probably run.
