Apple on Wednesday held a company-wide memorial for late co-founder Steve Jobs at its headquarters at 1 Infinite Loop in Cupertino.

The company posted a photo to the Apple site of CEO Tim Cook speaking to Apple staff, but it did not provide further details about the event.

According to a Reuters report, Norah Jones and Coldplay performed at the memorial, held in an outdoor amphitheater on the campus. Former vice president and current Apple board member Al Gore was also in attendance.

Bloomberg Businessweek reported that Cook, Gore, and Apple’s head of design, Jonny Ive, all spoke. At the close of the service, Coldplay front man Chris Martin “told everyone to get back to work because that’s what Steve Jobs would have wanted,” Businessweek said.

The mood was not somber, but rather was festive, Businessweek added.

During the celebration, many Apple Stores were shuttered for three hours to allow retail workers to watch a live stream of the employees-only event. A reason for the brief closure was not given, but the glass windows fronting the stores were covered with white sheets as staff gathered to remember the former CEO.

A few days ago, Cook informed employees about the service in an email. He told them that Apple wanted to “take time to remember the incredible things Steve achieved in his life and the many ways he made our world a better place.”

Wednesday’s event follows a private memorial held Sunday at Stanford Memorial Church. Those present included former president Bill Clinton, Microsoft chairman Bill Gates, Bono, and many other tech figures, politicians, and celebrities.

This week, Apple also launched a special “Remembering Steve” page where it has posted more than a million emailed tributes it received from people all over the globe.
