When Apple co-founder Steve Jobs died earlier this month, Apple offered an email address to which people could send in their remembrances. Apple has received more than one million emailed tributes since Jobs passed and has launched a “Remembering Steve” page where people can read these messages and share their own.

The page reads: “Over a million people from all over the world have shared their memories, thoughts, and feelings about Steve. One thing they all have in common – from personal friends to colleagues to owners of Apple products – is how they’ve been touched by his passion and creativity. You can view some of these messages below.”

People are invited to submit their own thoughts at rememberingsteve@apple.com. Pending approval, they’ll be posted on the page, too.

Apple on Wednesday will reportedly close some of its U.S. retail stores for a few hours so that employees can attend a company-wide memorial for their former CEO. Apple boss Tim Cook announced the employees-only service in an email. He told the staff that Apple wanted “to take time to remember the incredible things Steve achieved in his life and the many ways he made our world a better place.”

Apple has not publically confirmed the memorial, but Reuters pointed out that many stores in California weren’t accepting tutorial bookings or Genius Bar appointments for Wednesday morning.

Today’s event follows a private memorial for Jobs held Sunday at Stanford Memorial Church attended by tech luminaries, politicians, and celebrities including former president Bill Clinton, Microsoft chairman Bill Gates, U2 frontman Bono, and hundreds of others.

Steve Jobs died on October 5 after a long battle with pancreatic cancer. He was 56.
