All iPhones will have a personal hotspot feature with iOS 4.3, a Boy Genius Report has said.

Verizon announced that it had finally landed the iPhone on Tuesday at a press conference in New York. The device will have the ability to act as a personal hotspot, allowing customers to connect up to five Wi-Fi devices to share the phone's 3D Internet connection. But if Boy Genius is correct, this feature will soon be available on all iPhones when the next iOS update debuts.

Boy Genius said iOS 4.3 will probably be unveiled in March. While hotspots will likely be available right away for users with "more lenient carriers," the report said that this feature might not be immediately supported on AT&T, even when the next iOS update is released.

A spokesperson for AT&T said that the company is "not going to speculate on the availability of hotspots at this time." Reps from Apple did not respond immediately to a request for comment.

Starting Feb. 10, Verizon will offer a CDMA/EVDO version of the iPhone 4. Existing Verizon Wireless customers will be able to start pre-ordering the device Feb. 3. The 16GB version with a two-year contract will cost $199.99, while the 32GB version will cost $299.99. The device will be available at more than 2,000 Verizon stores, via Verizon's Web site, at Apple Retail stores, and via Apple's Web site.

Although there has been speculation that this would mean loads of people would jump ship from previously iPhone-exclusive AT&T, some analysts have said that might not be the case.

An analyst with Forrester Research said this news is really more of a win for Apple. He said that mobile users are likely to ride out their existing contracts, and that many will hold off on buying Verizon's iPhone 4 as they wait for the next iteration of the device.
