There is hardly a corner of the Web that hasn't been infiltrated by President Obama, and now the commander-in-chief has joined Pinterest.

Run by Obama's 2012 campaign, the page features eight different boards of varying genres. The Obama-inspired recipes board includes the Obama family chili recipe as well as a couple of pictures of Obama-themed cupcakes. Pet Lovers for Obama has pins from some canines that back Barack, which of course includes Bo, the Obama family dog. There's also a board with merchandise for the campaign; one with Obama-inspired art; another with images of the first family; one with pictures, videos and stories from supporters; and another that lists facts about the campaign and things the president has accomplished during his term.

The president is certainly a rarity on Pinterest – not only are there very few male users of the site, there are no other candidates with a presence on the online pinboard - unless you count the fake Mitt Romney site. The GOP hopeful's wife, however, joined the site last month.

It should be no surprise that Obama has joined yet another social site, though. His campaign has a masterful command of social media with accounts on Twitter Twitter, Facebook, Google+, and Flickr.

The White House in August joined Foursquare, and about two months later, Obama 2012 launched a Tumblr page. In January, the president launched an Instagram account. The First Lady also joined Twitter earlier this year.

That Obama has joined Pinterest is not just a nod to his social media prowess, but the increasing popularity of the site. Pinterest hit 11.7 million unique visitors in January, making it the fastest-growing standalone site in U.S. history. Evidence suggests it's an important platform, too, as it's started to drive more referral traffic than Twitter.
