Netflix and game developer Tender Claws are prepping a new Stranger Things VR game set for release next winter.

The title, revealed during Sunday's Stranger Things Day 2022 celebrations, will hit major virtual reality platforms in late 2023. The psychological horror/action game lets users play as Vecna, a murderous resident of the Upside Down who preys on people's past traumas and telekinetically implodes their skulls.

"Become an explorer of unknown realities as you form the hive mind and tame the voice," according to the game description. "Invade minds and conjure nightmares in your quest to enact revenge on Eleven and Hawkins."

Netflix teased the title in an official trailer, featuring familiar visuals like an exploding grandfather clock, Demogorgons, and a very angry Eleven, but little in the way of potential plot; it's unclear which characters will make an appearance, what the mechanics are, or how many times you have to listen to Kate Bush before you lose the game.

Stranger Things Day 2022—which celebrates 39 years since Will Byers went missing in Hawkins, Indiana—featured interactive screenings of Season 4, Volume 2, a virtual watch party hosted on Roblox, and the launch of new Netflix Profile Icons featuring fan favorites like Eddie Munson. The streamer also revealed the title of Season 5 premiere episode "The Crawl," which marks the beginning of the end, as the next season will be Stranger Things' last.
