Anime streaming service Crunchyroll is raising prices by $2 per month across all its tiers.

The new changes move the Fan tier package, Crunchyroll's most basic service, to $9.99 a month, up from $7.99. The changes take effect immediately for new customers, while existing subscribers will see prices change from March 4.

If you’re on the Mega Fan tier, your price goes up to $13.99 a month, while the Ultimate Fan tier now costs $17.99 a month. For a limited time, those who buy a yearly subscription can get the Fan package for $66.99, though Crunchyroll didn't specify how long that deal will last.

Crunchyroll justifies the price increase by noting it hasn’t changed its cheapest tier since 2019. Back in May 2024, the streamer increased its Mega Fan tier from $9.99 to $11.99 per month, and its Ultimate Fan tier from $14.99 to $15.99 per month. In December, Crunchyroll then shut down its free, ad-supported version for all customers.

The brand didn't share at the time that it planned to increase prices, but it doesn't come as a surprise, considering many streamers, including Apple, Disney, HBO Max, Paramount, and Netflix, have increased prices significantly over the last year.

Crunchyroll is still a must-have streaming service for many anime fans. PCMag's Jordan Minor recently reviewed the streaming service, saying, "With former rivals firmly under one roof, Crunchyroll is the ultimate anime streaming service. It features a vast catalog, a choice of subs or dubs, robust simulcast support, exclusive original series, novel extras, and offline downloads.”
