A new partnership between two of the world’s biggest streaming services will see Spotify bring some of its most popular video podcasts to your TV through Netflix.

Sixteen shows are on tap: nine sports, five culture and lifestyle, and two true crime shows. Some are from Spotify’s studio, but most come from The Ringer, which Spotify acquired in 2020. The full list is below.

The New York Times reports that the new deal also stops each of these shows from being shown in their entirety on YouTube. Spotify has yet to confirm this, but if true, it means you'll likely have to subscribe to either Spotify or Netflix to continue watching.

A 2024 report from Cumulus Media and Signal Hill declared YouTube the most popular podcast platform, with a 31% market share versus Spotify's 21% and Apple's 12%. Edison Research then conducted its own study and reached a similar conclusion: YouTube took 31% of the pie while Spotify and Apple netted 27% and 15%, respectively.

"For this younger audience, the ability to watch their favorite podcasters, not just listen, adds a layer of engagement that traditional audio platforms lack," Edison Research said at the time.

In a statement, Lauren Smith, VP of Content Licensing and Programming Strategy at Netflix, acknowledged the popularity of video podcasts. Roman Wasenmüller, VP and Head of Podcasts at Spotify, adds that the deal "offers more choice to creators and unlocks a completely new distribution opportunity.”

Netflix says the first wave of shows will begin appearing on its service in early 2026 in the US, with an expansion to other countries expected in the future. It has also confirmed that it won't add more commercial breaks to the podcasts, even if you're on the ad-supported tier. However, you should expect typical ads within the podcasts themselves, similar to those found on Spotify.
