If you're a fan of Dell's XPS range of laptops, it looks as though we're getting a redesigned XPS 15 model and a new, larger XPS 17 model.
As Laptop Mag reports, Dell has managed to leak its own XPS laptops after Reddit user WesolyKubeczek spotted an unusual image on a Dell Precision product page. The image has now been removed, but it clearly showed two new XPS laptops. The first is the XPS 15 in redesigned form, but the second looks to be a 17-inch model and therefore likely to be called the XPS 17.
Just like the new XPS 13 (pictured above), these new laptops look like they have a 16:10 aspect ratio display, four USB-C ports, no USB-A ports, speakers positioned either side of the keyboard, and a much larger touchpad. As to why Dell has decided to go larger with a 17-inch model, it looks to have been made possible by the display bezels getting smaller. The bezel around the top and sides of the screen is noticeably thinner, and the chin at the bottom has all but disappeared. With that being the case, the 17-inch model should remain a manageable and portable size while hopefully not being too heavy.
Clearly Dell has the 16-inch MacBook Pro in its sights if it intends to release a 17-inch XPS laptop, and with a 10th generation Intel Core i7 or i9 inside, it will surely offer some serious competition in the performance stakes. Pricing will be key, with the 16-inch MBP costing $2,399 for the base model. The existing XPS 15 high-end model maxes out at $2,299, so it seems likely Dell could offer a base XPS 17 for slightly less than the MBP, which would certainly help its appeal.
