Sony's Xperia Z3 and Z3 Compact will both get the update to Android 5 starting from today. First to recieve it will be the Nordics and Baltics and working their way across Europe afterwards.
The update will include a new look user interface from Sony, which will aim to match Google's design for Android 5, which is known as "material". It's a lot flatter and simpler than previous versions of Android, and brings devices like phones and Android Wear closer together.
The update also brings notifications to the lock screen, allowing you to see what's going on without the need to enter a passcode. Of course, sensitive information can also be hidden from your lockscreen. Also new in this release are user accounts and a guest mode, so you can lend your phone to someone but keep a tight lid on what they can see and do.
Google continues with its nonsensical and random decisions about loading apps from SD Cards. Now, apparently, it's okay again, with Sony adding the feature into its new OS update. This is good news though, as it helps free up space on your device.
Other Xperia devices will be updated, but more information on them will follow.
