The brand didn’t give subscribers any notice of a price increase, instead pulling access for standard Premium subscribers.

X Pro lets you view multi-column feeds of posts on the social network so you can monitor various accounts, interactions, and topics from a single dashboard. Now, X Pro costs more to use, and X didn’t notify users that a price increase was imminent.

As spotted by MacRumors, the social network moved its X Pro feature to its X Premium+ plan, which costs $40 per month or $395 a year. Until Thursday, March 26, the feature was available to X subscribers who pay $8 per month for its Premium subscription.

That’s a fivefold price increase, and X didn't let Premium customers know in advance. Engadget reports that multiple reporters who use the tools weren’t told about the changes, instead finding a message about its removal when they attempted to access X Pro.

X tells customers to “Please upgrade your plan to use X Pro,” along with a button to move to the higher-priced tier. X's Premium policies say the features included in its subscriptions are “subject to change at any time as we continue to improve the service.”

This is frustrating for those who once used these tools for free before Twitter was rebranded as X. It was previously available as TweetDeck, a free tool that let you monitor multiple feeds from a single view. In July 2023, Twitter was rebranded as X, with TweetDeck renamed X Pro a month later and moved behind its first paywall.

You’ve got three subscription options for X, including its Basic tier for $3 per month. Premium+ comes with no ads aside from sponsored posts, along with features like reply prioritization, higher Grok limits, and access to write articles on the social network.
