OnePlus 8 owners with T-Mobile are receiving an over-the-air software update that enhances 5G connectivity, TmoNews reports.

T-Mobile's update for the OnePlus 8 activates 5G on bands 2 and 66.

Bands 5, 41, and 71 were already compatible with T-Mobile's 5G network. OnePlus 8 owners can take advantage of these 5G-ready bands to download and upload not only faster than before but also in more locations. T-Mobile continues building out a fast, reliable 5G network throughout the United States. Ultimately, T-Mobile aims to one day surpass Verizon with cutting-edge connectivity after merging with Sprint and implementing its assets.

In addition, the update included Google's Live Caption and an array of general improvements. Live Caption automatically runs on-screen captions for videos, podcasts, and other types of media. OxygenOS displays the overall software version as 10.5.8.IN55CB.

T-Mobile didn't revise the official support page to reflect this update, but it does appear to be rolling out widely based on several OnePlus 8 owners sharing screenshots across social media.
