Disney is preparing to celebrate Disney+ Day on Nov. 12 and is enticing both new and lapsed subscribers back to the streaming service with a $1.99 deal.

We discovered last month that Disney+ Day includes the streaming debut of Shang-ChiShang-Chi, but now you don't have to pay the full subscription price in order to watch it on Friday. From now until Nov. 14, it's possible to sign up for Disney+ and only pay $1.99 for the first month. It usually costs $7.99 per month.

If that wasn't enough of an enticement to sign up, Engadget reports that on Nov. 12, Disney+ will add an "IMAX Enhanced" aspect ratio to the following Marvel movies:

  • Ant-Man and the Wasp
  • Avengers: Infinity War
  • Avengers: Endgame
  • Black Panther
  • Black Widow
  • Captain America: Civil War
  • Captain Marvel
  • Doctor Strange
  • Guardians of the Galaxy 1 & 2
  • Iron Man
  • Thor Ragnarok
  • Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings

The enhancement takes advantage of IMAX's taller 1.90:1 aspect ratio, so on a 16:9 TV the black bars at the top and bottom of the screen will be reduced (content is up to 26% taller than Disney's standard 2.35:1 aspect ration). The benefit of this change is that any scene shot in IMAX will be more detailed. IMAX Enhanced movies will also support 4K, Dolby Vision, HDR10, Dolby Atmos, and DTS sound.

Of course, Disney is hoping that anyone signing up for its $1.99 deal will continue their subscription past the first month. So be aware that if you don't cancel before the initial month is over, Disney will charge you $7.99 on an auto-renewing monthly subscription.
