2020 has mostly been filled with bad news, but there's always Christmas to look forward to and Warner Bros. is going to offer us something special to watch on Christmas Day.
As Engadget reports, a leaked promotional video suggested that Warner Bros. was set to offer Wonder Woman 1984 for home viewing the same day as it hits movie theaters: Dec. 25. Since the leak, director Patty Jenkins has confirmed that you will be able to watch the movie at home on Christmas Day exclusively on HBO Max. If that wasn't enough good news, watching the movie on HBO Max won't cost subscribers anything extra!
Jenkins also tweeted the following message:
Warner Bros. also confirmed in a press release that Wonder Woman 1984 will be available to stream on HBO Max in the US for one month only.
"As we navigate these unprecedented times, we've had to be innovative in keeping our businesses moving forward while continuing to super-serve our fans," said Ann Sarnoff, Chair and CEO, WarnerMedia Studios and Networks Group, which includes Warner Bros. Pictures. "This is an amazing film that really comes to life on the big screen and, working with our partners in the exhibition community, we will provide that option to consumers in the U.S. where theaters are open. We realize that a lot of consumers can’t go back to the movies due to the pandemic, so we also want to give them the option to see Wonder Woman 1984 via our HBO Max platform."
As the movie is rated PG-13, it's sure to prove popular to sit down and watch as a family. However, do keep in mind that because it's streaming on HBO Max there won't be any option to watch in 4K or with HDR. You will be able to stream it through Amazon Fire TV devices, though.
