'Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom' Could Be Nintendo's First $70 Switch Game

The higher price is unlikely to stop the game selling millions of copies.

It looks as though a Nintendo Switch game is going to carry a $70 price point for the first time, and it's a title most Switch owners are eager to play.

As GameSpot reports, for a brief period yesterday the Nintendo Switch eShop listed The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom for $69.99. It was quickly removed, but as it's the official Nintendo store, there's no reason to doubt Tears of the Kingdom will be the Switch's first $70 game.

Breath of the Wild launched with a $59.99 price tag, and as is typical with a lot of first-party Nintendo games, has maintained that price point for the last six years. Nintendo adding $10 to the price of the sequel will in part be down to inflation, rival platforms also releasing $70 games, and is potentially a sign we're getting a much bigger experience than Breath of the Wild offered.

All could be revealed before the day is over as a Nintendo Direct is scheduled for 5pm ET today and will be streamed live on YouTube. You can watch it below:
