UPDATE (3/26): Samsung Galaxy S26 series owners in the US are now receiving an update that adds Apple AirDrop support to their phones, improving wireless file sharing with iPhone owners. As spotted by 9to5Google, select users across the US have reported on social media that the feature appeared on their phones starting March 25. The feature began rolling out on Monday in Samsung's home market, Korea.
Original Story (3/23):
Samsung has introduced an update to Android's Quick Share function that brings Apple AirDrop support to the Galaxy S26 series, enabling easier wireless file sharing between Samsung and Apple devices in close proximity.
The update begins rolling out on March 23 in Korea and will be available in the US later this week. AirDrop support will initially only be available on Galaxy S26 phones, but Samsung plans to expand the feature to additional Galaxy devices at a later date.

Samsung says the update is part of its ongoing efforts to improve compatibility across operating systems. To enable the feature, head to Settings > Connected Devices > Quick Share, and select Share with Apple Devices.
Google initially introduced AirDrop support for Pixel 10 phones in November. At the time, Eric Kay, Google’s VP of Android engineering, said Google would expand integration to more devices in 2026 without elaborating. However, Android Authority cited social media posts from Nothing and Qualcomm expressing enthusiasm for adding AirDrop; the Galaxy S26 runs a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5.
Kay also pointed out how Google is doubling down on making it easier for iPhone users to switch to Android and "make sure they’ve got everything they had from their old phone."
Apple has not commented publicly on the AirDrop support. As we noted in November, interoperability with the Pixel 10 requires the iPhone to set AirDrop to "Everyone for 10 Minutes" to receive a file from a nearby Pixel 10. In contrast, many iPhone users likely have their AirDrop setting set to "Contacts Only."
