Your smartphone or tablet can be one of the easiest ways to play classic games, and Sega has historically been good at putting many of its retro titles on both Android and iPhone. However, Sega is set to pull support for its mobile ports, but not before offering them as free downloads.

The nine classic titles previously cost around $2 each, plus a little extra to remove ads. Those ads are now gone for anyone who downloads, meaning the titles are free.

Each game now includes a disclaimer that reads, “Support for this game will be discontinued, but you can continue playing offline! If you’d like to learn more about great Sega games to play, please click the link below.” That link takes you directly to Sega's website.

As reported by Android Authority, some other classic Sega titles that were previously removed from the Play Store and App Store remained playable.

The free games include:

There are also two whole game collections available. Those are Golden Axe Classics, featuring Golden Axe I, II, and III (iOS / Android), as well as Shining Force Classic, featuring Shining Force I, II, and Shining in the Darkness (iOS / Android).

Sega previously impressed gamers by porting many of its classic titles over to modern platforms through its Forever scheme. Sega Forever ended September 2023, so the writing has been on the wall for a while for these classic games. We've not seen any new titles released since 2019.
