Delivery service Uber Eats now lets you return select purchases through its couriers so you can get a refund without leaving the house.
Uber Eats lets you buy more than just food, allowing you to order household items, clothing, pet supplies, gadgets, and more through its drivers. Now you can request a courier to come to your home to make a return when you don't intend to keep your order.
Tap Return an item in your order history to initiate a refund. You need to explain in the app why you’re returning the item, and if it meets the store’s return policy, you can proceed with your refund via Uber Eats.
A new option called Return with a courier is now visible, which sends a driver or rider to your home to pick up the return. Uber doesn’t clarify how to repackage items, but you should expect most stores to need the original packaging for returns.
There will be a return fee based on the time and distance between your home and the store. Uber Eats is kicking off courier returns at thousands of locations across five retailers: Best Buy, Dick's Sporting Goods, Pet Food Express, Pacsun, and Petco. Uber Eats says it plans to expand to more retailers soon.
Rohan Mathew, engineering lead at Uber Eats, says, “Now, with just a tap, you can send an item back and get a refund without ever leaving home. Whether you're debating the right paint color mid-project or second-guessing a new pair of wireless headphones, you can shop confidently on Uber Eats knowing returns are simple, fast, and convenient.”
These features join other Uber Eats delivery tools, such as couriers who collect prepaid packages sent through FedEx, UPS, or your local post office. This feature lets you send items to anyone without leaving home, with up to five items collected at a time.
