As Apple proves that there is a desire for a smartwatch, LG has launched its long-awaited Urbane, its answer to the question of how smartwatches can compete with the "proper" watch market.
Google has celebrated in two ways. Firstly, it has asked LG to lead the charge with the updated version of Android Wear which brings with it gesture control and Wi-Fi support. This is interesting, because it means the Urbane doesn't need your phone to be connected via Bluetooth any more. You will, however, need to have connected to the Wi-Fi network you're using with your phone before, as both are linked.
Google has also moved its store from Google Play, to its own location at store.google.com, a subtle change from play.google.com but a change nonetheless. Hilariously though, the Google Play store error message isn't especially clear about what's happened.
LG's watch will cost £259 in either gold or silver with a leather strap.
