Sports fans have been desperate for Apple to add widgets to its popular scoring app since it first launched in February last year. Now, the brand has made that a reality with Apple Sports widgets across iPhone, iPad, and Mac.

The new widgets let you build and customize breakouts for your home screen so you can quickly see your team's latest scores or upcoming matches without having to open the full app.

The widgets can be built in two different ways: by team or by league. The My Teams option lets you select individual teams you want to follow across all of the app's supported sports. This way, you’ll get the latest scores during games and quick information on upcoming schedules.

If you’d prefer to follow a whole league, you can use the My Leagues feature to see all the teams' scores and upcoming matches in one place. You can have multiple widgets active on one device, allowing you to use both features.

Each widget style will focus on a live game, if there is one. You can then press on the live scores to open the full Apple Sports app for details of what has happened so far.

Apple also introduced the ability to schedule Live Activities, which give you scores directly on your lock screen for the duration of the match. Live Activities launched with iOS 18, bringing real-time updates to your iPhone's lock screen or your Apple Watch. Previously, you had to set them up during a game, but a new option lets you pick upcoming events, so you can schedule them in advance.

There's no word on further expansions for Sports on Apple Watch. The Verge also points out that this update doesn't bring these widgets to CarPlay either.

To get these features, you'll need the latest version of iOS 26, iPadOS 26, or macOS 26 installed on your gadgets. You'll then need to download an additional update to the Apple Sports app.
