The big green sticker on the front of physical game cases wasn't received very well by gamers, and it looks as though Microsoft already reacted and removed it.

Microsoft is very keen to explain what "Optimized for Xbox Series X" means, but also to convey to gamers when an Xbox One game has been optimized for the next-gen console. It chose to do that by adding a big green sticker to the front of Xbox One physical game cases. However, it looks as though Microsoft is already rethinking the decision.

As Gamespot reports, the new sticker was first seen on the box art for Codemasters' Dirt 5, but it wasn't well received, mainly due to how big it was. The bright green coloring really takes away from the game's artwork, and it looks as though Microsoft was listening to what gamers thought. Daniel Ahmad, senior analyst at Niko Partners, tweeted what looks to be updated Dirt 5 box art next to the old one along with the comment, "Microsoft listened to feedback."

As you can see, the sticker is no longer present on the front of the box. It's thought Microsoft decided to design a more subtle logo and place it on the back of the box instead. We have yet to see the redesign and Microsoft has yet to officially confirm this is happening. A Microsoft spokesperson responded to Gamestop's inquiry by saying, "Retail boxes and online product description pages will clearly denote if a game is Optimized for Xbox Series X with specific iconography. We have nothing further at this time."

It's understandable Microsoft wants to make it clear that some games will be optimized for its new console. Sony had to convey similar messaging for its PSVR titles on PS4. It just seems as though a big green sticker on the front of a game wasn't the right way to do it, and credit to Microsoft for reacting so quickly to feedback.
