The world remains in lockdown, but Bethesda has decided QuakeCon 2020 is going to happen anyway, and is offering one of id Software's classic games for free during the three-day streaming event.

2020 sees the 25th running of QuakCon, and Bethesda is promising to celebrate through a schedule, "packed with three days of celebrity influencer streams, live concerts, charity fundraising, developer panels and much more." The full schedule includes something for everyone, be they fans of Fallout, Doom, The Elder Scrolls Online, Skyrim, Dishonored, The Evil Within, and of course, Quake.

As DSOG reports, regardless of how much QuakeCon 2020 you intend to watch, Bethesda is offering everyone a free copy of Quake while it runs. From Aug. 7-9, it will be possible to download a digital copy of the game for free using the Bethesda launcher. The only prerequisite is you need to have a Bethesda.net account setup.

QuakeCon 2020 will be available to stream live beginning at 12pm ET on Friday, Aug. 7 by visiting Bethesda's Twitch channel. It's then a continuous 72 hour run of content until it's brought to a close on Sunday, Aug. 9 with a final The Evil Within 2 stream at 10pm ET. Bethesda is also going to accept donations throughout, and if the total reaches $10,000, Quake 2 is apparently going to be offered for free, too.
