Meet the SanDisk Extreme Portable SSD

Easy to clip on to a backpack or a belt loop, this external USB SSD is a good choice for hikers, outdoor photographers, and media workers seeking additional space for photos, videos, and other digital media shot on the spot.

The Outer Design

The enclosure has a black rubberized finish on the back and sides, with a textured, pitted front face in a contrasting charcoal plastic.

Both Kinds of USB

The drive comes bundled with a standard USB Type-C-to-C cable, in addition to a USB-C-to-A adapter.

Take a Dunk

The SanDisk Extreme Portable SSD is rated for the IP55 standard, making it resistant to water ingress, dust exposure, and shock.

An Open Port

Despite the water resistance rating, note that the drive doesn't have a cap or stopper over its USB Type-C connector.

Four Sizes, All Rugged

The Extreme Portable SSD comes in four different capacities: 250GB, 500GB, 1TB, and 2TB.

Adapter in Action

Connecting to an ordinary USB Type-A port requires use of the bundled adapter, which is a little clunky.
