Getting a new 4K Ultra HD TV is a pretty large investment, but the good news is that the prices are falling like never before and there's actually a 4K content to watch, whether that's broadcast TV from Sky and BT or streamable content from Netflix and Amazon.

That being said, you can still pay anything up to £3000 for a top-of-the-range 4K TV with all the bells and whistles. You’re certainly going to be guaranteed an absolutely stunning TV that could very well change the way you view media forever. But, this certainly isn’t budget-friendly, and there are still plenty of

affordable 4K TVs that can seriously impress with everyday activities like watching films, playing video games, or binging Netflix shows.

If you’re looking to pick up a TV for someone before Christmas or December, Black Friday could be a great opportunity to find top 4K sets at more budget-friendly prices. We’ve got plenty of other articles ready, but here is our more extensive break-down on what TV you may want to opt for.

Most Affordable 4K TV Deals Under £400

The most affordable 4K TV sets usually start around £300 to £400 without any discounts. However, you can still occasionally find deals under £300, while more expensive sets can also drop £700 to around £350 as well.

The two most consistently cheap 4K TV providers are Hisense and TCL. Both have a great range of TVs available, and more often than not you can find these sets at a discounted rate.

Hisense recently discounted one of its 43-Inch 4K HDR sets down to only £249, which is a great deal for a 4K TV set. Once this has passed, we expect it will only pop up again during major sale events. If you do see a 4K TV for less than £250, we recommend you snap it up as soon as possible, especially if it’s from a trusted brand.

These sets won’t get as high contrasts and blacks when compared to the best and most expensive available, but they can still perform to a high level and are a great way to introduce your home to incredible 4K HDR quality imagery.

Best OLED and QLED 4K TV Deals

OLED 4K TVs are probably some of the most expensive out there at the moment, and these are the typically the only 4K TVs you’d expect to pay over a £1000 for, with the exception of very large LED sets (65 to 75-Inch).

Samsung likes to be different and brands its TVs as having ‘QLED’ screens instead, but despite the similarity in names, the two screens are quite different in many aspects.

QLED screens are the height of Samsung TV technology and are some of the most visually impressive sets you can feast your eyes on at the moment. The main difference it has to OLED is that it still relies on LED backlighting, whereas OLED uses a form of emissive layer lighting which can produce rich colours, high contrast, and deep blacks.

Both screens are incredibly impressive, and both tend to be reasonably expensive as well. Prices are starting to come down, however, and you no longer need to pay over £3000 to experience the pinnacle of 4K tech. 8K OLED TVs, on the other hand, are also very impressive, but still a bit too expensive for the average consumer.

Best 4K TV Deals Under £900

So we’ve discussed the least and most expensive 4K TVs out there at the moment, but what about the middle-of-the-row sets? There are actually plenty of 4K TVs under £900 that can provide a little bit extra in comparison to the budget-friendly TVs, while also breaking the bank at the same time.

Mid-range 4K TVs typically have smart functionality and increasingly better refresh rates, sound quality, and colour contrast. However, sound quality isn’t going to be great across many 4K TV sets, as the units are typically made to prioritise picture quality over anything else. We recommend opting for one of the best soundbars as well if you’re serious about your TV viewing experience at home.

My Experience

I’ve been freelancing as a tech journalist for several years now, after long wanting to write about my passion for video games. I have bylines on Kotaku and other sites, but PCMag is where you can find most of my musings on gaming, its culture, and where the industry is going next. I also test online services for both businesses and individuals. If you’re interested in hearing me talk about entertainment, film, and TV, you can check out my Patreon and Substack, both under the name “Robby Knows.”

The Technology I Use

Most of the tech I use every day is within the Apple ecosystem. Currently, I rely on a 2025 MacBook Air for computing and dabble in art projects on my 6th-generation iPad Mini. I don't go anywhere without my AirPods Pro 2 in my pocket.

As an avid gamer, you better believe that I always have a controller in my hands if I’m not watching movies or TV. I use my PS5 and Switch 2 equally, depending on what’s the hot new release, and am always trying to find interesting ways to tinker with my Steam Deck.

Given the current state of social media and technology, I find myself going more analog to escape the noise. I have a modest collection of watches, both automatic and digital, to free myself from the pings and notifications of the modern world. I also put my phone in a ySky lockbox for 12 hours every night to reduce my screen time. I spent a lot of the past year trying to read good books rather than scroll through feeds.
