Some Logitech accessory owners found their mouse and keyboard had problems working on their Mac over the last few days. The issues stem from the Logitech Options+ and G Hub apps with owners finding customized buttons and scrolling wouldn't work correctly. The software normally used to fix issues was also unavailable.

Logitech says the problems were caused by an "expired certificate" with Apple's developer tools. Every brand is required to have a Developer ID Certification Authority with Apple to run apps on its devices.

Logitech's certification ran out on Jan. 6 after being in place for five years, as spotted by Reddit user hPOD. Logitech's new support documentation says, “The certificate that expired is used to secure inter-process communications and the expiration resulted in the software not being able to start successfully.”

A fix is now available for the last four versions of macOS back to 13 Ventura, but you'll have to install it yourself as the certificate issue also broke parts of Logitech's installer app.

If you have an accessory which connects through either the Options+ or G Hub apps, you can now find details on how to fix each through Logitech's own website. You will need to follow this process even if you haven't suffered from any issues to ensure you get future updates to your accessories.

A marketing spokesperson for Logitech, known as ATXsantucci on Reddit, took to a thread of complaints to apologize to customers. The spokesperson said, "We dropped the ball here. This is an inexcusable mistake. We're extremely sorry for the inconvenience caused."

If you use Logitech accessories on a Windows device you’d be none the wiser to any of the issues as it only impacted those on Apple Mac products.
