Pros & Cons

The Belkin IEEE 1394 FireWire PCI Card is a low-cost yet full-featured connection kit. Like the other two cards, it has three ports, but they fit the back of the card more elegantly than the ports on the others. The Belkin card includes the older MGI VideoWave 3 SE editing software for making movies. This card's test results were virtually identical to those of the Adaptec card, and it comes with a 6-pin–to–4-pin cable, too. The one difference between the two products: An internal 4-pin connection between the Belkin card and your computer's power supply (the most common type of power connector) gives it added juice in case your external FireWire products surpass the PCI interface's capabilities.
