DJI's Osmo handheld camera stabilization system now comes with integrated zoom up to 7x.

DJI tipped 3.5x optical and 2x digital lossless zoom (when shooting at 1080p), which gives it "a focal length ranging from 22mm to 77mm without sacrificing HD quality," the company says. "It is similar to, but not interchangeable with, the new Zenmuse Z3 zoom camera recently launched for the Inspire 1 drone system."

"The Osmo+ opens up entirely new capabilities for creators who love the Osmo's ability to deliver crisp, sharp and detailed handheld imagery," Paul Pan, senior product manager, said in a statement.

"From action selfies to detailed panoramas to motion timelapses, the zoom features of the new Osmo+ once again expand the capabilities of handheld photography to push the limits of the imagination," he added.

Key features include motion timelapse and advanced stabilization, as well as a powerful camera that shoots 4K/1080p videos and 12-megapixel stills. It also features an integrated FlexiMic, and is compatible with the DJI GO mobile app.

The camera-and-gimbal combination is available now for $649; the Zenmuse X3 zoom camera is also sold separately for $499. DJI sells additional accessories like a tripod, bike mount, and extension rod, as well.

DJI wowed at CES 2015 with its prototype Osmo, earning best in show honors when the device was still called the Inspire 1 Camera Mount. The finished product, however, lost points for inadequate battery life and internal mic in PCMag's review.
