Sonos is making new gadgets again, and it’s kicking things off with the Amp Multi, a specialist multi-channel amplifier built for larger homes with complicated audio setups.
The company hasn’t released a new product since the Sonos Arc in late 2024, after it damaged its reputation with customers through a disastrous app overhaul. The update was buggy and removed popular features, causing confusion and irritation among long-time Sonos customers.
Then-CEO Patrick Spence resigned, and new CEO Thomas Conrad decided to cancel a long-in-development video streaming device to help Sonos focus on its software problems and rebuild customer trust. This new product launch looks to be a first step in that direction.
The new Amp Multi is a large digital amplifier designed for multiple gadgets, and it’s more specialized than Sonos' consumer-friendly products. The idea is that you can connect traditional speakers to this box to join up with other audio equipment. It's unlikely this product is for you unless your home is covered in speakers.

It makes ambitious designs more efficient to build and install, and easier to live with.”
Sonos says the Amp Multi will be available globally through Sonos installation partners in the coming months; pricing was not announced, but the Sonos Amp costs $799.
This may signal that we’ll see more gadgets from Sonos in the future. Are new wireless speakers and soundbars on the horizon?
