Plenty of games let you create levels and worlds, from Little Big Planet to Mario Maker. But while some game-making games are simple and easy to use, the more complicated and complex options can feel overwhelming. At its latest developer complex, Roblox unveiled a new chatbot that promises to take all the code out of coding a world.

Rather than pull out a text editor, you'll fire up Roblox Assistant and describe what you want to create. The company demonstrated some basic concepts today, asking for a "game set in ancient ruins" and building from there. With Roblox Assistant, you can set a respawn point, change the look of the world, and more.

The Assistant builds upon Roblox's earlier generative AI tools that let you create AI materials from text prompts, like a car with working headlights. In the new Assistant's case, it can pull assets from the Marketplace or your visual asset library if you already have appropriate assets.

The idea is to have a natural language design program that's collaborative. In one video demonstration, when a user asked Roblox Assistant for trees, it copied and pasted the same tree in many places. A quick request to diversify the trees fixed that problem.

Roblox has always been more accessible to new players, even regarding game-creation tools. But to get the most out of it, you still need some coding and game creation knowledge. The new Roblox Assistant considerably drags down that barrier of entry, especially with its ability to write code.

Unfortunately, we don't have a release date for the new Roblox Assistant. Roblox says the chatbot will launch either at the end of this year or early next year. But in another bit of good news, Roblox did announce it will (finally) arrive on the PlayStation and Nintendo Switch in October.
